Getting Groomed is the first and only wedding planner for gay grooms. It includes sample budgets and a master timeline, and walks a gay couple through every aspect of planning a wedding. In this edition, host Jeffrey Masters, sits down and talks with Jason Mitchell about his new book, Getting Groomed.
BCO HOST JEFFREY MASTERS WITH JASON MITCHELL
Jason Mitchell is the Wedding Planer at Shiraz Events located in NYC. Prior to joining their team, he served as the Event and Banquet Manager at the members-only Soho House New York where he has designed, planned, and run fashion shows, book launches, art festivals, movie premieres, opening nights, awards show post parties and of course weddings–his favorite.
Jason is also an accomplished playwright. His show THE BOYS UPSTAIRS, a comedy about sex, dating, relationships and all the blurry lines in between, premiered in the 2009 New York International Fringe Festival where it played an entirely sold-out run and received critical praise. In 2011 the Fringe Festival, which produces 200 plays annually, invited THE BOYS UPSTAIRS to be part of its 15th Anniversary Series honoring the top 15 shows of 15 years.
Jason lives in Manhattan’s Upper West Side with his husband Michael. They were one of many couples who fought for marriage equality in New York, and got engaged just before the state recognized same-sex marriage.
